Hank’s so fun to take on outdoor winter adventures, but it is easy to tell when he is cold and not having that fun of a time. Of course, in the winter we are always skiing and want Hank to enjoy skiing as much as we do. The Climate Changer by Ruffwear is the perfect fleece for Hank for the mildly cold and snowy outdoor adventures.
Hank adapted immediately to this jacket and it is very easy to put on. Simply slip the leg holes over the paws and zip on one side. Ruffwear clearly put a lot of thought into the design of this jacket, and we loves the features. The two reflective seems is a huge bonus to have and work very well. Of course, during the day or during hunting season, the Burnt Orange color also helps with visibility.
The fit of this jacket aids in Hank being very comfortable in it. It is tight on his back, fitted along his belly perfectly, and is not too tight around his neck. Like I said in the video, Hank was on the very end of the Medium scale. The medium was far too small and didn’t even zip! So if your dog is on the verge of sizes, definitely size up. The large fits him well, even though it is just a tad tight on his chest, everywhere else is perfect and the XL would definitely be too large.
Hank has absolutely no problem running, bounding, jumping, or sleeping in this jacket and will definitely keep him warm in the many chilly winters he has yet to endure.
The Climate Changer can also be a base layer for the Quinzee Insulated Jacket by Ruffwear, so if you’re living and adventuring in extreme cold, this is a great option for you. If we upgrade and get the insulated layer, I’ll be sure and update you on the warmth and comfort factor.
At first, I was a little bit timid ordering Hank a fleece jacket, knowing we would be in snow a lot, but the fleece doesn’t collect and hold snow as much as I would have expected. On a recent snowshoe, the jacket didn’t collect any snow and Hank stayed warm and dry the entire time! I would highly recommend this jacket to any of Hank’s best friends and think it’s the perfect mid layer for your pup!
