After taking a trip to Reno Nevada for a convention I realized that this Casino was better than any casino out there. Could be because I enjoy skiing more then gambling but the Casino jacket by Powder Room is my favorite jacket of the season. The 15,000 mm of waterproofing and the 7,000g of breathability is the perfect combination for any average park day or deep sunny day in the backcountry. I love the style of this jacket. It’s unique and girly. But more importantly for me, the fit of the Casino jacket is worth mentioning, over and over again. It is long in the torso for those of you like myself that are pretty tall.
My absolute favorite feature of the Casino jacket is the collar. If you’ve watched some of my previous reviews, you’ll notice I kind of have a weird thing with collars on jackets. They can’t be too tight. Powder Room fixed this problem of mine when they developed the expansion zipper of the collar. When unzipped, there is an additional 3 inches or so of fabric added to the collar. I literally couldn’t be more thrilled with this feature. It makes for the perfect collar. And I’ve been wanting to say that for a very long time. Shit I’m willing to guess that this jacket would even fit over a neck brace if you’ve had a bad ski accident. There is one downfall that I’ve noticed about the collar expansion and that is if it is a brisk day the wind rolls through the expanded part because the fabric is not as thick.
The sleeve cuffs are another well-designed feature of the jacket. I don’t like to put cuffs under my gloves because they cut off the circulation of my thumbs. Well, these ones are big and stretchy and fit over my gloves. This makes for a good day when I fall in the deep powder and do not get snow up my sleeves.
There is a snow skirt in the jacket however I usually don’t use powder skirts because I like to wear base layer onesies. Unfortunately for me the skirt does not detach so it’s always there making me look a little bit plumper than usual. Overall, I would highly recommend the Casino jacket by Powder Room. I stay warm while looking good. By the way, pair the Casino Jacket with the Winner Winner pant (pants seen in all photos and video) and you’ve got yourself a real jackpot.
