It’s almost impossible to detail all the wonderful ideas and technologies that Tasc Performance has included in their layering system. I’ll start with the most unique and interesting. Tasc has created a blend of fabric using merino wool and bamboo fibers to create a high-performing fabric with features that are hard to find all in one place. I must say, after doing some research on their website it looks to be pretty cool what they are doing with natural fibers. Check this out for a lengthy and intelligent explanation of what they are doing.
The Level B Bamboo + Merino layering system both tops and bottoms are pieces that I will be using year round for years to come. This technology allows for multiple uses and I’ll quote from the Tasc website because I can say it no better way: “Perfect for all outdoor pursuits in varying conditions and levels of activity.”
Level B is classified as the midweight layer from Tasc Performance and includes all of the necessary features for becoming one of my favorite base layer systems. First of all, the bamboo/merino combination has heightened the level of anti-odor so I’m thinking I could get at least 13 days in before washing. Breathable, temperature regulation, and moisture wicking are imperative features—especially in the backcountry where you’re hot on the way up and cold on the way down.
If for some reason these start to smell horribly after two or three weeks, the quick drying aspect is helpful for when I need to do a quick wash in the camper. Another great feature? And at this point you’re probably wondering how there could even be so many… This layering system is UPF 50+ sun protection so this summer when I’m hiking or biking on chilly days I’ll be warm, comfortable, and protected from the sun.
This stuff’s new, different, comfortable, and outstanding when it comes to performance. Be sure to check them out because they’ve got a lot to offer.
