While stuff sacks are great for organization, I rarely use the ones that come with jackets and other clothing. Here’s how to fold any jacket into its own hood for better organization.
It’s easiest to start with your jacket on the ground, front side up. Fold the sleeves over the chest to make a rectangle. You may remember this lesson from your mother when she tried to teach you to fold your shirts when you were in high school. This time, pay attention.
When you have a tidy rectangle, roll from the bottom up and stuff it all into your hood. It’s tight, compact, and won’t come apart until you need your jacket.
Save the stuff sacks to store your gear at home.
