On a day of hard rain, I take Montbell’s Rain Trekker jacket out for a tough review. I don’t hide from bad weather, and I know you don’t either. The last thing I want is to be stuck in the rain with a leaky jacket.
Good news: The Rain Trekker lives up to every expectation I’ve had. It’s been up and down 14,110′ Pikes Peak, rock climbing, and on a number of alpine hikes. Montbell made a jacket that performs just as well in the summer, as it does in light winter weather. And don’t forget about wearing it around town where it’s equally at home.
Need some features? Here you go:
- Seam taped (no leaks)
- 40 denier fabric (lightweight and durable)
- Breeze Dry-Tec (waterproof and breathable, even with aerobics)
- Elastic cuffs
- Draw cord waist and hood
Flat out, this jacket works and it works well. It’s my go-to jacket for past packing in the mountain, spring, summer, and fall.
