A number of options exist for filtering water, including the All Clear from Camelbak. Doing the outdoors upscale is always a concern and filtering water with a UV light made me feel like I was drinking expensive, designer water.
Be sure you have clear water if you’re filtering with UV light. Camelbak also makes a pre-filter to avoid dirt and sediment, but I don’t find it necessary.
The All Clear bulb is will last 10,000 cycles which is about 3 bottles a day, everyday, for 9 years. I’ll likely loose mine before hitting that mark. It operates on a rechargeable battery which lasts for 80 cycles or about 16 gallons. Check out the Goal Zero Nomad 7 review for lightweight backcountry solar.
