If it’s alright (and since this is my blog it’s definitely alright) I’d like to say that I’ve never been in love with a pair of pants like I am the Outdoor Research Valhalla pants. In the month I’ve owned them they’ve already caused two pairs of pants to leave my drawer and find their way into the donation pile.
As the Norse Mythology’s enormous hall in Asgard is said to have 540 doors, this pair of pants has nearly as many pockets. There’s a place for everything and the fit is perfect. My waist measures a true 33″ with a 32″ inseam. Size medium is perfect for me.
Outdoor Research is known for making bomber clothing for the mountains and the Valhalla lives up to that promise. OR promises the soft shell GORE® WINDSTOPPER® to be windproof, water resistant and highly breathable. I can tell you first hand it’s all true.
I’ve worn these pants both inbounds and out. From near freezing temps to far below. In the video above it’s about 20 degrees Fahrenheit and all I’m wearing beneath is boxer briefs and lightweight merino wool long underwear. In the wind and out I was perfectly comfortable.
Looking for a pair of pants this ski season? Do yourself a favor and pick up a pair of the Valhalla’s.
