Aspen Brewing sent me a few beers and my challenge was to figure out how to pair them. I elected to try This Season’s Blonde for the first time during a day of fly fishing. Pro tip: when soaking your beer in the river, be sure to wash the sediment off the top before drinking.
First off, I didn’t have high hopes for this beer. Boy was I surprised, and so was Jason, someone you might call a beer snob.
After a full day on the river the fog began rolling in and the snow started falling just as we pressed the record button. Combine those conditions with standing in water that was only recently in snow form and you’ll understand why we were shaking a bit. But the beer seemed to mostly solve this for us.
This Season’s Blonde is a wheat beer light enough to drink at lunch, flavorful enough for the beer snobs, yet still smooth enough for the wives. Truly an all-around beer.
